Ethiopian Airlines Group, Africa’s largest airline and the fastest-growing global airline brand, has announced its plans to bolster its presence in the East Asian market by increasing its weekly passenger flights to Seoul, Republic of Korea, to six, effective October 28, 2023. The airline will also introduce the state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900 aircraft on this route, further enhancing the travel experience for passengers.
The decision to enhance flight frequency comes as a result of constructive discussions between the aviation authorities of Korea and Ethiopia, underscoring the strengthening socio-economic ties and multifaceted partnership between the two nations. This move is expected to foster increased economic, cultural, and social interactions, offering travelers more diverse and convenient connectivity options.
Mr. Mesfin Tasew, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, emphasized the significance of this expansion, stating, “Ethiopian is the sole African carrier connecting Seoul to the continent and beyond, and the additional frequencies will play a pivotal role in facilitating essential economic and cultural exchanges. We are proud to offer enhanced flight options between Addis Ababa, the diplomatic capital of Africa, and Seoul, the thriving hub of East Asia.”
In an exciting development, the airline will introduce the latest Airbus A350-900 aircraft on the route, a move that demonstrates Ethiopian Airlines’ commitment to providing passengers with unparalleled comfort and cutting-edge technology. The introduction of this modern aircraft not only underscores the airline’s dedication to passenger satisfaction but also aligns with its ongoing efforts to provide world-class services.
The CEO also expressed gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Korea for its support in enhancing Ethiopian Airlines’ flight frequencies, highlighting the collaborative spirit between the two nations.
This expansion coincides with Ethiopian Airlines’ 10th-anniversary celebrations of its services to Seoul. The airline initially launched flights to Seoul as its 73rd destination a decade ago. Since then, Ethiopian Airlines has significantly expanded its global footprint, serving over 130 destinations across five continents, a testament to its commitment to growth, innovation, and excellence in the aviation industry.
As Ethiopian Airlines continues to foster connectivity between Africa and the rest of the world, this strategic move to enhance flights to Seoul stands as a remarkable milestone in the airline’s journey of success.
