In a bid to enhance the economy and alleviate the suffering of the underprivileged population, the Nigerian federal government has highlighted the importance of collaborating with the private sector. This assertion was made as part of the communique released at the conclusion of the 30th Annual Development Forum organized by the Live Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO) in Abuja.
The communique, which was signed by Dr. James-Wisdom Abhulimen, Head of Programme & Corporate Communications at LAPO, underscored the stance of the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Economic Planning, emphasizing the pivotal role of the private sector in propelling economic growth and overall development in Nigeria.
Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and National Economic Planning, further stressed the necessity of a sustained partnership with the private sector to steer the nation’s development agenda, especially in light of declining government revenue.
The communique accentuated the Minister’s viewpoint regarding the importance of non-state actors joining forces with the government to promote national and economic development, recognizing that the government alone cannot shoulder the entire burden.
During the event, Dr. Sampson Ebimaro, the Director of International (Bilateral Economic) Cooperation, represented the Minister of Budget and National Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.
This move reflects the government’s commitment to harnessing the potential of the private sector to foster economic growth and address poverty-related challenges.
