Nestle Nigeria PLC records 27% revenue growth for year 2022

Full-Year Financial Results for 2023 Reveal Resilience in Face of Economic Challenges

Nestlé Nigeria PLC has reported robust financial results for the full year 2023, showcasing a commendable increase in revenue despite facing challenges stemming from the devaluation of the Naira. The company’s press release, highlighting key financial indicators, underscores Nestlé Nigeria’s resilience in navigating the economic landscape.

Key Highlights:

1. Revenue Surge: Nestlé Nigeria witnessed a significant increase in revenue, surpassing N100 billion, with total earnings reaching N547 billion compared to the previous year.

2. Operational Profit: The company experienced a remarkable jump in operating profit, registering a 41.2% increase and reaching N122.7 billion.

3. Gross Profit Growth: Gross profit rose by 39.4%, totaling N217.2 billion, reflecting the company’s effective management of costs and operational efficiency.

4. Impact of Naira Devaluation: Despite the positive performance in revenue and operating profit, the devaluation of the Naira negatively impacted the profit after tax, resulting in a loss of -N79.5 billion for 2023.

Commenting on the financial results, Mr. Wassim Elhusseini, Managing Director and CEO of Nestlé Nigeria PLC, expressed gratitude to the company’s dedicated team for their commitment and contribution to the strong revenue growth and operating profit despite the challenging economic environment.

Elhusseini acknowledged the impact of the Naira devaluation on the profit after tax, emphasizing the company’s optimism and capacity to overcome current economic difficulties and emerge stronger.

“Looking ahead, we remain dedicated to our purpose of unlocking the power of food through responsible local sourcing and confection of high-quality nutritious food and beverages. We also remain steadfast in optimizing our operations to ensure the availability and accessibility of affordable and nutritious products to our consumers in anticipation of a timely turnaround in the business environment,” stated Mr. Elhusseini.

The financial results indicate Nestlé Nigeria’s commitment to delivering quality products to consumers while navigating economic challenges. The company remains focused on its long-term goals of sustainability, responsible sourcing, and providing nutritious options to families across Nigeria.
