FirstBank of Nigeria has strongly refuted allegations of fraud made by Tech Cabal, dismissing the claims as “completely unfounded and unsupported by any factual evidence.” The bank issued a statement following the publication of the article by the popular tech news platform, Tech Cabal, which made serious allegations about the institution’s involvement in fraudulent activities. According to the bank, a thorough review of the claims revealed that the allegations were not based on facts and lacked any verifiable or credible evidence.
“We wish to categorically state that the story is completely unfounded and unsupported by any factual evidence,” the statement read. “The allegations in the Tech Cabal publication are not grounded in reality and fail to present any verifiable or credible evidence.”
FirstBank reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of transparency and accountability in all its operations, emphasizing that such claims do not reflect the bank’s practices or its ongoing efforts to maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
“We stand by our commitment to transparency, and we continue to operate with the highest levels of accountability,” the statement continued. “The publication of these false claims does not reflect our practices or our ongoing efforts to maintain a positive relationship with our stakeholders.”
The bank also called on Tech Cabal and other media outlets to correct any misinformation and exercise caution when reporting on such serious matters. “We understand the importance of accurate reporting and hold media outlets to the responsibility of ensuring the integrity of the information they share,” the statement added.
First Bank’s response comes at a time when fraud allegations have been raised against other notable banks in Nigeria, with similar claims recently dismissed by the institutions involved. The bank expressed confidence in its operations and reiterated its focus on delivering value to its partners, clients, and the community.
