Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced the deployment of 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks as part of a N720 billion investment aimed at transforming the distribution of petroleum products across Nigeria.
In a statement released yesterday, the company revealed that this strategic initiative is projected to save Nigerians over N1.7 trillion annually, while also absorbing more than N1.07 trillion in national fuel distribution costs.
Starting August 15, the refinery will begin direct delivery of petrol and diesel to filling stations, industrial sites, and large-volume consumers across the country. The move is expected to eliminate transportation costs for fuel marketers and bulk users, contributing to lower pump prices and helping to curb inflation.
Dangote Refinery noted that this transition to cleaner, gas-powered logistics would also benefit over 42 million Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by cutting energy costs and boosting business profitability.
The company affirmed its readiness to meet Nigeria’s daily demand of 65 million litres of refined petroleum products: 45 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 15 million litres of diesel, and 5 million litres of aviation fuel.
This development marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s effort to enhance fuel distribution efficiency and reduce dependency on diesel-powered logistics.
