The Federal Government has reiterated its dedication to transforming Nigeria’s economy through the revitalization of the agriculture sector, citing the launch of agricultural industrial hubs as a key initiative in achieving this goal.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, represented by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Abubakar Kyari, made the remarks during the groundbreaking ceremony of an Agricbusiness Industrial Hub in Atan-Ijaiye, Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Shettima stated that the planned hubs would significantly reduce post-harvest losses experienced by farmers across the country, while also accelerating economic growth and job creation in the sector.
“It is a testament to our unwavering commitment to a future where hope is renewed through concrete action, strategic partnerships, and inclusive growth,” he said.
The Vice President also lauded Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration for aligning with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing that state-federal collaboration was vital to unlocking the full potential of Nigeria’s agricultural value chain.
The agric industrial hubs are expected to integrate processing, storage, logistics, and market access, offering a sustainable solution to one of the sector’s biggest challenges — poor value retention after harvest.
