Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has commenced the receipt of 4,000 compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered trucks for its fuel distribution logistics programme, scheduled to begin on August 15.
In a statement on Sunday, the company said the initiative aims to transform Nigeria’s fuel distribution network by reducing logistics costs and enhancing supply efficiency for customers.
The fleet, being imported through Apapa Port, represents a major capital investment estimated at N720bn, underscoring Dangote’s commitment to deploying innovative solutions as the world’s largest single-train refinery expands its operations.
The first consignment of trucks recently arrived at the refinery site in Ibeju-Lekki after leaving Apapa Port, where it was formally received by the Vice-President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Ltd, Devakumar Edwin. The arrival drew excitement from refinery staff and customers present to witness what the company described as “tangible progress towards improved fuel accessibility.”
Group Chief of Branding and Communication, Dangote Industries Limited, Anthony Chiejina, said the rollout marked a groundbreaking milestone in Nigeria’s fuel distribution sector. “This initiative will significantly enhance fuel delivery, reduce costs, and improve efficiency across the country,” he said.
