The Minister of Blue and Marine Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has announced that the Lekki Port is projected to generate $200 billion in revenue for the Federal Government over its 45-year concession period.
Oyetola made this disclosure on Wednesday in Lagos during a breakfast meeting organised by the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping in collaboration with Lekki Port.
He explained that since the commencement of commercial operations, the port has been easing congestion in Lagos and other ports, while simultaneously strengthening Nigeria’s position as a competitive logistics hub.
The minister highlighted the world-class infrastructure at Lekki Port, describing it as a sign of vast untapped opportunities for investors, operators, and service providers in the maritime sector.
According to him, the Federal Government has played a pivotal role in addressing potential bottlenecks by completing critical access roads that directly link the port to major highways.
“With the road infrastructure provided through collaboration between the Federal Government, Lagos State Government, and private sector partners, cargo now moves faster, investors’ confidence is restored, and trade flows without unnecessary delay,” Oyetola said.
Industry stakeholders say Lekki Port represents a game-changing investment that will drive Nigeria’s blue economy and boost long-term growth in trade and logistics.
