The Registrar of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), Mr. Kingsley Igwe, has said that the full adoption of the National Single Window (NSW) could reduce logistics costs in Nigeria by 25 to 30 per cent.
Igwe made this known in Lagos on Thursday during his keynote address at the NSW Stakeholders Engagement Forum, jointly organised by the National Single Window Secretariat and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
He described the National Single Window as a transformational tool that will revolutionise trade facilitation in Nigeria, improve transparency, and strengthen the country’s position as a major regional trade hub.
According to him, “Moving forward, the NSW will be a game-changer in the way businesses are conducted in Nigeria. The country is at a critical juncture in its economic journey, and adopting this platform is essential for growth and global competitiveness.”
Igwe lamented that despite Nigeria’s position as Africa’s largest economy and the gateway to West and Central Africa, businesses still face high logistics costs, fragmented procedures, and excessive documentation. He noted that cargo clearance delays continue to hinder trade efficiency and raise the cost of doing business.
He called for strong stakeholder collaboration and political will to ensure the full implementation of the National Single Window, which integrates government agencies and trade operators into a single digital platform for more efficient processing.
