The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has announced that it remitted a total of N6.215 trillion to the Federation Account between January and September 2025, consolidating its position as one of the federal government’s largest revenue contributors for the year.
According to the commission’s latest revenue report presented to the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) in Abuja on October 16, 2025, the cumulative amount represents transfers made to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) during the nine-month period under review.
The report, showed that the commission remitted N741.99 billion in September 2025 alone, amounting to 61.59 per cent of its approved monthly revenue budget of N1.204 trillion. However, this figure was N462.81 billion short, or 38.41 per cent below target, due mainly to fluctuations in crude oil prices and production shortfalls across the country.
When compared with August 2025, the September performance reflected a marginal decline of 0.43 per cent, with total collections dropping slightly by N3.22 billion from the N745.20 billion recorded in the previous month.
The NUPRC continues to play a pivotal role in boosting the federal government’s revenue base through its regulatory oversight of upstream petroleum operations, despite ongoing challenges in global oil markets and domestic output.
