Naira Records Strongest Daily Gain at Official FX Market

The Naira recorded its strongest appreciation against the United States dollar this week at the official foreign exchange market.

Latest data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the local currency strengthened to N1,436.97 per dollaron Thursday, an improvement from the N1,444.42 traded on Wednesday.

This represents a day-to-day gain of N7.45, marking the highest daily appreciation when compared to the N5.17, N4.58, and N3.78 gains recorded earlier in the week.

However, the trend was different in the parallel market, where the Naira remained stable at N1,485 per dollar, the same rate as the previous day.

The appreciation at the official market comes as Nigeria’s external reserves rose to $43.11 billion as of October 28, 2025, reflecting a gradual buildup in the nation’s foreign asset position.

Analysts attribute the improvement to sustained CBN interventions, increased foreign inflows, and strengthening market confidence.
