Reps Approve Tinubu’s $347m Loan Request for Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway

President Bola Tinubu has stated that Nigeria’s ambition to build a $1 trillion economy will only be realised through increased productivity, sustained innovation and the development of a globally competitive workforce. Speaking on Wednesday at the 3MTT Nigeria National Impact Summit held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, the President said Nigeria’s economic aspirations demand deliberate and strategic investment in human capital rather than reliance on chance.

Tinubu, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, emphasised that in a world increasingly shaped by rapid technological disruption, global leadership is secured by nations that deliberately cultivate the skills of their young population. Under the Renewed Hope Agenda, he noted, Nigeria must therefore continue to prioritise human capital development as its most valuable asset.

The President highlighted the transformative impact of digital skills, describing them as engines of growth across critical sectors including agriculture, healthcare, finance, manufacturing, education and public administration. He said this reality underscores the strategic importance of the Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme as a key pillar of his administration’s economic transformation plan.

According to him, “a strong digital workforce creates jobs, expands enterprise and positions Nigeria to participate competitively in the global marketplace. More importantly, it shifts our role in the world from passive consumers of technology to active creators and exporters of talent.”

Tinubu affirmed that Nigeria’s long-term prosperity rests on empowering its youth with relevant competencies that will not only advance the domestic economy but also ensure the country becomes a global supplier of skilled digital talent.
