Mabel Adeteye, Head of Brands and Marketing Communications at Wema Bank Plc, has been officially appointed as a jury member for the 2026 edition of the SABRE Awards Africa.
The appointment places one of Nigeria’s leading communications strategists at the centre of the continent’s most prestigious recognition platform for public relations and reputation management.
The SABRE Awards Africa, organised by PRovoke Media, are globally recognised for celebrating campaigns that combine creative excellence with measurable business impact. Adeteye will join an elite panel of senior industry professionals tasked with evaluating more than 500 submissions from across Africa.
Speaking on the significance of the role and the evolution of the industry, Adeteye said the public relations landscape in Africa is experiencing a major shift.
“The SABRE Awards remain one of the most respected global benchmarks for strategic communications. African communications are evolving beyond execution into true strategic leadership where insight, culture, business outcomes, and societal impact connect,” she stated.
Adeteye also noted that although she has served on several international communications panels, the latest appointment carries special significance.
“Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving on different juries across communications and marketing platforms. Each experience comes with responsibility, but this one felt different,” she added.
The 2026 jury panel will assess entries based on innovation, strategic insight, and their contribution to advancing industry standards across the continent.
Industry observers view Adeteye’s selection as further proof of the increasing global recognition of African communications professionals. Organisers say the awards will continue to highlight ideas and campaigns shaping the future of the industry.
“This year’s awards will continue to spotlight innovation and excellence shaping the future of communications across Africa and beyond,” the organisers said.
With over 15 years of experience, Adeteye’s career spans brand strategy, corporate reputation management, and integrated media campaigns. She is also a member of the Forbes Communications Council and holds professional accreditations from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (UK), the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK).
Her leadership at Wema Bank has been marked by high-impact initiatives that align corporate goals with societal engagement.
The awards ceremony is organised in partnership with the Public Relations and Communications Association and will feature a shortlist of more than 120 campaigns selected from a highly competitive pool of entries from across Africa.
