The Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, Ms. Yan Yuqing, has disclosed that trade between China and Nigeria reached $15.48 billion between January and July 2025.
She made this known on Saturday at a reception commemorating three occasions: the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary, and the Mid-Autumn Festival.
According to Ms. Yuqing, the trade volume reflects a 34.7 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024, underscoring the growing strength of relations between both nations. She described Nigeria as China’s second-largest trading partner in Africa.
The envoy explained that the elevation of bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership during the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit has opened wider opportunities for collaboration.
She added that cooperation in key areas such as infrastructure, energy resources, trade, culture, and education continues to deepen, bringing tangible benefits to citizens of both countries.
