Chisco Transport Ltd, one of Nigeria’s leading road transport and logistics companies, has officially commenced the assembly of Yutong luxury buses and Sinotruk trucks at its new facility in Iponri, Surulere, Lagos. The move aims to modernize the company’s operational fleet and support the launch of its innovative Drive-To-Own franchise.
The new Chisco facility is accredited to assemble vehicles from Yutong and Sinotruk, as well as other top Chinese commercial brands. The Drive-To-Own franchise will be operated by carefully screened and trained captains, who have already taken charge of buses and trucks under the program.
A total of 80 buses and 40 trucks are set to begin operations, connecting the southeast with northern Nigeria and offering premium service along the Lagos–Accra West Coast route.
At the roll-out ceremony in Lagos, Chisco Group Chairman Dr. Chidi Anyaegbu highlighted his commitment to investments that create jobs and enhance the quality of life. “In 1981, when I ventured into transportation, I didn’t see it as the most profitable business. But I saw it as a business that would employ many people,” he said. He explained that the Drive-To-Own initiative is driven by a vision to strengthen road transport, cargo delivery, and employment opportunities across the country.
Chisco Transport Managing Director Mr. Obinna Anyaegbu emphasized the company’s commitment to meeting the diverse demands of Nigeria’s road transport and logistics sector. “Apart from moving passengers, we are also moving critical items like medicines, and satisfying customers is what our promise is. So, this responsibility is not to be taken lightly,” he said. Interested individuals can participate in the franchise by emailing careers@chiscogroupng.com.
Yutong’s technical team, led by Mr. Damian Lee, pledged 24-hour after-sales support, including maintenance training and spare parts supply, to ensure the buses remain operational and safe.
The 53-seater air-conditioned Yutong luxury buses are equipped with soft upholstered seats, phone charging points, and on-screen entertainment, while the trucks feature state-of-the-art facilities, including bed space for the captains.
Chisco also anticipates that other transporters and logistics companies will utilize the vehicles produced at the new assembly plant, contributing further to Nigeria’s transportation infrastructure.
