The Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Musa Nuhu has bagged African Leadership Magazine Award of Excellence.

Hon. Dee Dawkins and Hon. Laura Hall during the award presentation in Abuja…recently.

The award was presented by the Editor, African Leadership Magazine, Mr. Kingsley Okeke to Capt. Musa Nuhu at the Authority’s Corporate Headquarters on Thursday, 23rd September, 2021 in Abuja.

It was witnessed by two prominent members of United States Black Caucus, Hon Dee Dawkins-Hagler (ex-Chair, Georgia Legislative Black Caucus) and Hon. Laura-Hall (President-elect, National Black Caucus of State Legislators).

Adducing reasons for the award, Mr. Okeke said Capt. Musa earned the meritorious award on account of his meritorious services for the growth and development of the aviation industry. This became manifest when Capt. Musa was in the fore front to lead the processes leading to gradual and strategic resumption of flights operation after it was shut down. It was a testimony of hard work combined with team spirit.

In his words: ‘’when Nigeria opened her airports, a lot of countries had not done so. This made Nigeria a case study for countries looking for options on how to navigate their aviation business through the pandemic.’’

In his response, Capt. Musa thanked the body for the award which he says, will spur him and his team to work harder.

According to the DG, absence of serious incidents or accidents in the last few years was a fruit of the concerted efforts by the regulatory authority.

While admitting that there were challenges to be surmounted, DG said NCAA had enjoyed huge support from stakeholders including the supervising Ministry of Aviation led by Sen. Hadi Sirika who assisted the Authority in navigating troubled coronavirus waters.

However, he promised that the Authority will not relent in its mandate of providing air safety for passengers in Nigeria and indeed the entire continent of Africa.

He dedicated the award to the entire management and staff of NCAA for the team spirit that led to these milestones.

Prominent among those in attendance to witness the award presentation were Managing Director, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Capt. Folayele Akinkuotu; NCAA Director of Air Transport Regulation (DATR), Grp. Capt. Edem Oyo-Ita (Rtd.); Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards (DAAS), Engr. Tayyib Odunowo; and Director of Operations, Licensing and Training Standards (DOLTS), Capt. Elisha Bahago.

Others are General Manager (Public Relations), Mr. Sam Adurogboye; General Manager, Corporate Planning, Mr. Anthony Ayasal; and Regional Manager, NCAA Abuja Regional Office, Engr. Suleiman Akwuh.

Meanwhile, the leadership of Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) also had a meeting with the DG same day during which they passed a vote of confidence in his leadership.
