The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) on Wednesday announced that the Federal Government, states, and Local Government Councils shared a total of N2.225 trillion as August 2025 revenue, marking an increase of N224.118 billion or 11.2 per cent compared with the N2.001 trillion distributed in July.
The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, through its Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa, confirmed in a statement that the allocation followed the FAAC meeting held in Abuja.
“A total sum of N2.225tn, being August 2025 Federation Account Revenue, has been shared to the Federal Government, states, and the Local Government Councils,” the statement read.
The PUNCH observed that the increase represents the third consecutive month of growth in revenue shared among the three tiers of government.
Breakdown of the distributable revenue shows that it comprised statutory revenue of N1.478tn, Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue of N672.903bn, Electronic Money Transfer Levy of N32.338bn, and Exchange Difference of N41.284bn.
The statement further noted that the total gross revenue available in August 2025 was N3.635tn, out of which N124.839bn was deducted as cost of collection, while N1.285tn went into transfers, interventions, refunds, and savings.
