The Federal Government has commenced the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phase for the National Single Window (NSW) platform as part of efforts to streamline trade operations and make the unified electronic trade system fully functional by March 2026.
The first cohort of participating stakeholders began the process yesterday, where the project’s technology vendor, CrimsonLogic, guided agencies through NSW’s onboarding procedures and system navigation. The session also included demonstrations of the operational framework intended to harmonise and simplify Nigeria’s trade processes.
According to Daily Trust, the NSW project is a federal initiative aimed at creating a centralised electronic platform to integrate data from multiple trade-related government agencies. The system is expected to enhance efficiency for importers and exporters, reduce processing bottlenecks, and eliminate duplication of documentation in the country’s trade channels.
The Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, and the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr Zacch Adedeji, visited the Lagos testing centre to monitor progress. A statement from the NSW Secretariat noted that the engagement allowed agencies to assess system functions, validate workflows, and align expectations ahead of the platform’s rollout.
The commencement of the UAT stage marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s journey toward digitised trade facilitation. Once operational, the NSW is projected to reduce trade costs, improve document processing, and position Nigeria for greater competitiveness in global commerce.
