The Federal Government has officially reopened the D Wing of the old international terminal at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, with the goal of easing flight disruptions and enhancing the overall efficiency of air travel. This initiative is part of a broader effort to address the challenges faced by both travelers and airlines operating in Nigeria following the sudden relocation of foreign airlines from the international terminal of the Lagos airport to a new adjoining terminal that opened in March.
The Minister of Aviation, Mr. Festus Keyamo, announced the reopening of the old international terminal, which had been temporarily closed for renovation, on Monday. In a statement signed by Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, the Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection at FAAN (Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria), Minister Keyamo underscored the government’s commitment to improving the aviation sector and ensuring a seamless travel experience for passengers.
The statement reads, “This announcement is made to inform the traveling public that the Honorable Minister of Aviation, Mr. Festus Keyamo, has graciously authorized the use of the D Wing of the Old Murtala Muhammed International Terminal to complement the New International Terminal, aiming to facilitate passenger processing at the airport.”
The reopening of the D Wing at the old terminal is expected to alleviate congestion and improve the passenger experience at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, particularly in light of the recent changes and challenges in air travel. It demonstrates the government’s dedication to ensuring the smooth operation of air travel in Nigeria and addressing the needs of both airlines and passengers.
