The Federal Government has secured 200 hectares of land within the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos, for the establishment of a building materials hub designed to reduce housing production costs nationwide.
Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Ahmed Dangiwa, disclosed this during a tour of industrial areas within the Lekki and Lagos Free Zones. The zones form part of the wider Lekki Free Trade Zone ecosystem, a major commercial hub integrated with the Lekki Deep Sea Port.
Dangiwa inspected several ongoing projects, including housing estates, industries, building materials testing laboratories, the deep sea port, Alaro City, Lagos Coastal City, and other infrastructural developments.
He explained that the building materials hub is a key component of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at cutting construction costs, promoting local content, encouraging domestic production, and delivering affordable housing to Nigerians.
According to the minister, President Tinubu’s vision is to establish similar hubs across the six geopolitical zones of the country to ensure equitable access to sustainable housing.
Dangiwa, who was conducted round the projects by the Managing Director of Lekki Worldwide Investments Ltd, Mr. Adeniyi Akinlusi, commended the company for its remarkable achievements within the free zone.
