The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) has announced the commencement of a zero-fossil energy emission regime in the country with the licensing of the Deep Blue Industrial Park in Lagos.
The Managing-Director of NEPZA, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, handed over the Declaration License to Mrs Anita Omoile, the Managing-Director/CEO of Deep Blue Industrial Park in Abuja.
”NEPZA is fully aligned with the Federal Government’s eco-friendly initiative for the operation of free trade zones’ ecosystem.”
”The approval for the first zero fossil energy emission zone in the South-West region at Imoore, Amuwo-Odofin area of Lagos, spanning 115,503 hectares, marks a historic milestone for Nigeria.
”This positions Nigeria as the leading hub for regional eco-friendly industrial activities and logistics services with free trade zone status. The implementation of this new regime ensures that active manufacturing activities can take place without the usual emission of destructive carbon energy, in line with the Federal Government’s policy of promoting a green environment. ” Adesugba said.
The Deep Blue Industrial Park focuses on various sectors such as food processing, textile and garment production, renewable energy, electric cars, as well as research and development services.
The licensing of the Deep Blue Industrial Park heralds a significant step towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly industrial landscape in Nigeria, contributing to the country’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting a greener future.
