inDrive Celebrates Drivers, Launches inDrive Academy to Boost Professional Growth

inDrive, the ride-hailing platform operating in nine African countries, hosted its drivers at a special appreciation event on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Fame Lagos, Mayfair Hall, Purple Mall, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

The event celebrated the dedication, professionalism, and daily contributions of drivers across Nigeria, bringing together 50 platinum drivers in a relaxed and interactive setting. The gathering featured keynote remarks, driver testimonials, games, and informal conversations, reflecting inDrive’s people-first culture.

During the event, inDrive announced the launch of inDrive Academy, a learning platform designed to enhance the driver experience by equipping them with skills to grow professionally. Top-performing drivers were also recognised for their consistency, service quality, and commitment.

Speaking on the significance of the gathering, Oladimeji Timothy, Country Representative of inDrive Nigeria, said the appreciation event underscores the company’s commitment to building a strong, trusted, and respectful driver community based on fairness, partnership, and shared success.

Timothy highlighted that the academy would help elevate drivers’ experiences by combining practical skills with theoretical knowledge. Drivers seeking professional certification will complete modules covering vehicle condition, identity verification, fair transparency, safe driving, respect boundaries, and conflict management and resolution.

“Our drivers show up every day to keep people moving, navigate challenges on the road, and serve their communities with professionalism. This event was our way of saying thank you and recognising the impact they make, not just on our platform, but in the lives of the people they serve,” he said.

One of the drivers, George Uwem, commended inDrive for the recognition and for introducing the academy to enhance driver skills and passenger experience.

“We are really grateful for what inDrive has done to appreciate our contribution. We are also delighted that they are constantly coming up with initiatives to support us and improve our earnings. The forthcoming academy, no doubt, will equip us in delivering a better riding experience to our passengers,” Uwem said.
