Over 317 Nigerians living in South Africa are expected to arrive Nigeria today. The flight which was initially scheduled to arrive at 2pm Wednesday, has been postponed to arrive later in the day.
As at the time of filing in this report, there are indications that the wait may extend till later tonight following a delay by the South Africans based on documentation of the fleeing Nigerians.
The National Emergency Agency (NEMA) is also on ground at the arrival Wing of the Muritala Mohammed International Airport.
101 Business Crew spoke to one of the professionals on ground Mrs. Bola Mustapha who had arrived earlier in the day as well.
She explains that it is essential to counsel the returnees who according to her are in a state of shock. Most of them she said are disenfranchised having left the shores of Nigeria in search of greener pastures.
‘’ Counseling will not stop there, we will counsel them individually on a ‘one on one’ basis. The aim is to help them speak up as many will be traumatized so much that they would want to bottle up their experiences’.
According to Mrs. Mustapha, there is need to further reassure them that there is life after South Africa.
‘’ Moreso, there is also a need for them to be reminded that there is a giant inside everyone of them that needs to be awakend.
