The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) in Effurun, Delta State, have initiated a collaborative effort to fulfill their mutual mission of advancing human capacity development in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. During an exploratory meeting held at the Nigerian Content Tower, located in Yenagoa, which serves as the corporate headquarters of the NCDMB, the leadership teams of both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to bridging skill gaps in the industry. They have also agreed on various initiatives to be implemented in the near future, according to a statement from the NCDMB.
Simbi Wabote, the Executive Secretary of the NCDMB, expressed his longstanding support for the PTI’s role in manpower development. He pledged to send candidates to the institute for training, while acknowledging that the oil and gas industry has undergone significant technological changes. “Things have changed,” he emphasized, adding, “Technology has advanced, and PTI… must evolve with technology.”
Wabote concurred with the PTI’s management, led by its Principal and Chief Executive, Dr. Henry Adimula, regarding the establishment of a joint committee. This committee was initially proposed during a meeting in 2020 and will be tasked with outlining the collaboration’s modalities.
