Nigerian Exchange Group, in partnership with Central Securities Clearing System and Women in Management, Business and Public Service, will commemorate International Women’s Day 2026 by “ringing the bell for gender equality” at the NGX Group House in Lagos.
According to a statement released by NGX over the weekend, the event will leverage the closing gong ceremony to highlight the role of capital markets in promoting gender equality and expanding women’s participation in economic activities.
The ceremony forms part of the global “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality” campaign, which mobilises stock exchanges around the world to support gender-inclusive practices and strengthen women’s participation in the global economy.
“This year’s event is held in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation, UN Women, World Federation of Exchanges, UN Global Compact, and the Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative under the theme: ‘Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls’,” the statement said.
Several prominent figures are expected to attend the ceremony. Among them are Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Chioma Uzodimma, the First Lady of Imo State.
Also expected are Frana Chukwuogor, Executive Commissioner for Legal and Enforcement at the Securities and Exchange Commission Nigeria, and award-winning actress Funke Akindele, founder of the Funke Akindele Network.
Other participants include directors of NGX Group, Ojinnika Olaghere and Fatima Wali-Abdulrahman, alongside board members, regulators, and other industry leaders.
Through the symbolic ringing of the NGX Gong, Nigerian Exchange Group will join exchanges across the globe in highlighting the importance of inclusive leadership, equal opportunities, and stronger market accountability in advancing gender equality.
The initiative aims to encourage businesses, investors, and policymakers to continue building systems that promote women’s leadership and participation in the global economy.
