The Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, in collaboration with Lab Four, has inked a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at channeling 50,000 full-time Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) jobs to Nigeria over the next three years. The agreement, set to be implemented by the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP), marks a pivotal step towards bolstering Nigeria’s position as a global hub for service exports and talent sourcing.
Dr. Femi Adeluyi, the National Coordinator of NATEP, emphasized the program’s strategic significance, highlighting its role in propelling Nigeria to the forefront of service exports and talent exportation. He stressed that the initiative would catalyze the development of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Talent Export industries and ecosystems, serving as a cornerstone for NATEP’s overarching objectives.
Addressing the gathering during the signing ceremony in Abuja, Dr. Doris Uzoke, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, underscored the four-pronged objectives of the NATEP initiative. These objectives include delivering 1 million service-export jobs over the next 5 years, increasing foreign exchange earnings and revenue for Nigeria, fostering economic growth, stimulating the growth of ancillary industries and support services, and enhancing skills development while strengthening the Nigerian Brand.
The collaboration between the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment and Lab Four signifies a concerted effort to harness Nigeria’s vast talent pool and position the country as a competitive player in the global service industry. With a focus on job creation, economic diversification, and skills enhancement, the partnership holds the promise of driving sustainable growth and prosperity for Nigeria in the years to come.
