Nigeria, Taiwan Firms Sign Strategic MoU to Boost Trade and Investment

Nigerian businesses and their Taiwanese counterparts have signed a historic private sector-oriented Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at deepening trade and investment between both countries.

The agreement, sealed in Taipei, Taiwan, was between My Exhibition Company Limited of Taiwan (ROC) and the Hybrid Culture, Technology and Innovation Promotion Initiative (HCTIPI) of Nigeria.

Under the partnership, both parties will promote, facilitate, and attract investors to and from Nigeria, Taiwan, and other Asian countries, focusing on mutually beneficial sectors.

The MoU outlines cooperation in civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering; agricultural value chains (including agro-processing, livestock, poultry, aquaculture, hatcheries, animal feed and drugs, greenhouse equipment, post-harvest storage, and preservation); oil extraction; wholesale and retail trade in consumer and industrial goods.

It also provides for organising trade missions, exhibitions, roadshows, B2B meetings, and investment forums in both Taiwan and Nigeria.

The agreement was signed by Irene Liu, General Manager of My Exhibition Co. Limited, and Ambassador David Ademola Adejuwon, President of HCTIPI. It was also endorsed by Jeff Sun, Chairman of the Taiwan Turnkey Association, and Engr. Damisayo Abiodun Adejuwon, a Taiwan-based Trustee of HCTIPI.

Stakeholders described the MoU as a significant step in strengthening Nigeria-Taiwan private sector relations, with the potential to drive investment in priority sectors and foster innovation-driven growth.
