Data from the latest Fact Sheet by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) shows that daily petrol consumption in Nigeria fell to 52.9 million litres per day in November 2025, down from 56.74 million litres per day in October.
Of the total petrol consumed in November, 19.5 million litres per day came from local refineries, an increase from 17.08 million litres daily in October. The Dangote Refinery was the major contributor, supplying 23.52 million litres per day, up from 18.03 million litres per day the previous month. NMDPRA described this output as a milestone in reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported fuel.
Conversely, the NNPC-operated refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna recorded zero petrol output in November, remaining under rehabilitation or shutdown.
Imports accounted for 52.1 million litres per day, rising from 27.6 million litres per day in October, largely due to low supply in previous months, offloading delays, and efforts to bolster national stock ahead of peak end-of-year consumption.
The Fact Sheet also reported that diesel consumption averaged 15.4 million litres per day, while aviation fuel averaged 2.5 million litres daily, and cooking gas reached 3,992mt per day.
October 2025 remains the highest consumption month in the past year, followed by November 2024 (56 million litres/day) and April 2025 (55.2 million litres/day).
