The seven major oil marketers in Nigeria have officially registered with the Dangote Petroleum Refinery for the distribution of refined petroleum products produced by the $20 billion plant. Dealers, operating under the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, confirmed on Sunday that they are prepared to commence the distribution of fuel from the facility once commercial terms are finalized.
The Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria comprises leading industry players, including 11 Plc, Conoil Plc, Ardova Plc, MRS Oil Nigeria Plc, OVH Energy Marketing Limited, Total Nigeria Plc, and NNPC Retail. With their registration, these major marketers are gearing up to purchase and distribute products from the Dangote refinery.
In addition to the major marketers, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) are also engaging with the management of the Dangote refinery. IPMAN revealed plans to meet with the refinery’s management this week to discuss the terms of product loading, while PETROAN has been actively negotiating for the supply of products from the multi-billion dollar facility.
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery, on Friday, announced the commencement of production of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) and JetA1 (aviation fuel). This development marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s quest for self-sufficiency in refined petroleum products, and the engagement of major and independent marketers underscores the industry’s anticipation of the refinery’s impact on the domestic market.
The registration and active involvement of these key players in the distribution network highlight the growing confidence in the Dangote refinery’s capacity to contribute to the country’s energy landscape. As commercial terms are finalized, the collaboration between the refinery and major oil marketers is expected to facilitate the seamless distribution of refined products across the nation.
