The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has disclosed that it remitted N14.706 trillion in statutory payments to the Federal Government of Nigeria, according to its December 2025 Monthly Report Summary.
The report highlights the company’s growing role as a major contributor to Nigeria’s fiscal and energy landscape. Total revenue for the year surged to N60.5 trillion, while profit after tax (PAT) reached N5.76 trillion, up from N5.4 trillion in 2024 on N45.1 trillion revenue, reflecting strong operational efficiency and market performance.
Natural gas production in December 2025 averaged 6,914 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d), slightly below November’s 6,968 mmscf/d. NNPC attributed the marginal dip to planned maintenance at the Stardeep-Agbami and Renaissance-Estuary Area fields, as well as unplanned facility outages. Despite this, the company maintained overall production stability throughout the year.
The report also highlighted ongoing strategic projects to expand Nigeria’s gas infrastructure. The Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline project reached a major milestone with mainline welding completed. Work continues on Intermediate Pressure Stations and Block Valve Stations along the AKK corridor. The OB3 River Niger Crossing project has completed early works and commenced pilot hole drilling. Both projects remain on schedule, underscoring NNPC’s commitment to boosting domestic energy supply.
Analysts note that NNPC’s robust fiscal contributions and targeted infrastructure investments are expected to support broader economic growth in 2026. With maintenance cycles concluding and key gas projects advancing, the company is poised to sustain or surpass its current revenue and profit performance in the coming year.
NNPC Ltd’s 2025 performance reinforces its status not only as a critical revenue engine for the government but also as a strategic driver of Nigeria’s energy sector transformation. The combination of strong earnings, significant statutory remittances, and ongoing infrastructure development signals a forward-looking trajectory for both the company and the nation’s energy ambitions.
