The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has disbursed an additional ₦8.6 billion in pension arrears to 148,625 pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS), following the ₦32,000 pension increment approved by President Bola Tinubu in 2024.
Announcing the payment, Executive Secretary of PTAD, Mr. Tolulope Odunaiya, reaffirmed the federal government’s unwavering commitment to fully settling all outstanding pension arrears and enhancing the welfare of retirees, in line with the Renewed Hope agenda.
According to a statement by PTAD, the latest payment covers eligible pensioners across the police, civil service, parastatals, and the customs, immigration, and prisons departments. The directorate noted that this disbursement forms part of the government’s ongoing settlement of arrears arising from the second pension increment.
PTAD had previously completed the full payment of arrears from the first increment of 20/28 percent, also approved by the President, effective January 2024.
