President Bola Tinubu has officially launched the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme, unveiling 2,000 state-of-the-art tractors and thousands of specialised farming implements aimed at transforming Nigeria’s agricultural sector and strengthening national food security.
Speaking at the launch ceremony in Abuja on Monday, President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s determination to modernize agriculture, drive prosperity, and fulfil the promises made under his Renewed Hope agenda.
“Today, we take a monumental leap forward with the introduction of these tractors through our new agricultural mechanisation programme. We are very proud of what we are doing,” the President stated.
He recounted warning about Nigeria’s food security risks two years ago and said his team had since worked tirelessly to develop forward-thinking solutions.
In addition to the 2,000 tractors, the rollout includes:
- 50 industrial-grade land preparation booths
- 12 fully equipped mobile workshops
- Over 8,000 specialized farming implements
President Tinubu emphasized that the Programme is designed not only to boost productivity but also to create job opportunities across rural communities by empowering mechanization and service providers.
The initiative is seen as a pivotal move toward achieving sustainable food production, reducing import dependency, and unlocking the full potential of Nigeria’s agricultural value chain.
