The Federal Government of Nigeria is poised to sign over 30 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) as the country prepares to host the second session of the Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism (SDM), scheduled to begin on Monday, June 23, 2025.
The high-level three-day event will be anchored by the visit of Brazil’s Vice President, Geraldo Alckmin, and aims to strengthen bilateral ties between two of the most influential regional powers—Nigeria and Brazil.
Key sectors expected to feature prominently in the agreements include agriculture, energy, defence, the creative economy, and innovation, in line with Nigeria’s drive to diversify its economy and attract new investment flows.
Speaking at a press conference at the State House, Abuja, on Thursday, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, described the initiative as a landmark moment in Nigeria’s diplomatic relations.
“This visit of the Brazilian delegation is a strategic platform for deepening bilateral relations, technical cooperation, and opening new pathways for enhanced private sector and institutional engagements,” Hadejia said.
The dialogue will also present an opportunity for President Bola Tinubu’s administration to boost investor confidence, expand Nigeria’s global partnerships, and position the country as a regional hub for trade, technology, and innovation.
