The World Bank has disclosed that its total ongoing and approved development projects in Nigeria exceed $16 billion, covering key sectors including education, health, social protection, energy, and infrastructure.
The announcement coincided with the three-day visit of Anna Bjerde, Managing Director of Operations at the World Bank, who is meeting Nigerian officials to discuss ways to accelerate economic growth and job creation in the country.
During the visit, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State met with Ms. Bjerde and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partner with the World Bank in developing energy, agriculture, tourism, and human capital in the state.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that Lagos is ready to attract more investments and partnerships to improve the living standards of residents and assured that the state government would take necessary steps to secure additional support from the World Bank for infrastructure development.
