The 2021 edition of WAZOBIA 95.1 FM Lagos [ chock mouth] food festival is a testament of the youthful zeal of the leading pidgin English family Radio station revolutionize the lifestyle of her fans, customers and Nigerian families. The food festival with the theme “Come Chop” held in Lekki Lagos, attracted only registered fans due to strict COVID19 protocols, stakeholders, sponsors ,comedians and on -line audience.
The food judges were Chef Segun Aboyinu -Bukka Hut, Mr. Samuel Ojeifo- Power Oil Health camp cordinator, Mor Okokwe CEO -Mo’s Grill Kitchen and food and media expert, Uzo Ododo-Oba. Speaking to Mr. Uche Nwaneri, programmes manager disclosed that WAZOBIA FM is ranked the best station among the 40 existing stations in Nigeria, with rich programmes and contents that are encompasssing and impactful.
He described the WAZOBIA Food festival as a unique event, because as a family station, we give people the platform to express their thoughts, individualities, personalities and still interact with favourite radio hosts and celebrities. “According to Nwaneri, “We provide physical emotional , financial assistance to people using the radio and it’s social media platforms to keep families’ sanity and manage stressful homes.
The event includes cooking competition of selected 10 contestants and 2 popular celebrity comedians Mr. Hyenana and Josh Too Funny who added comedy to their “celebrity cook off “contest. The contest includes various African and continental foods like Jollof Rice and Chicken, Fried Rice and Chicken, Yam Porriage, Eba and Egusi Soup, White Rice and Curry Sauce, White Rice and Stew and Spaggetti and Chicken.
During the food inspection, Chef Segun Aboyinu, Bukka Hut gave tips and encouraged the contestants. He added Bukka Hut is providing a lot of sumptous food with take aways packs for all the guests. Aboyinu pointed out that the best chefs in the world are male Chefs who want keep people and families healthy with good life style. Food and media expert, Uzo Ododo-Oba appreciated all the sponsors and contestants She listed the criteria for the winning the cooking Contest, such as neatness and food appearance,timing, taste and methods of cooking.
She disclosed that despise COViD 19 challenges and hardship WAZOBlA FM in collaboration with sponsors are support all contestants as they will be going home with all the cooking utensils and some winners with Cash too. Chief Executive Office, Accolade Taste Cane Juice , Mr. Agbeniga Tiwalade, disclosed that ” His outfit provides free healthy cock-tail drinks to all the guests”. According to him, we serve all the guests healthy drinks to boost taste and digestive systems.

Ojeifo disclosed that Power Oil regularily organised Health camps to educate Nigerians on healthy eating, work- out, medical screening and treatment by our qualified doctors and teams.
The audience had Breakfast , Lunch , take aways, freebies and there were indoor game [ludo games, whot cards, Aiyo games and draft board games] played by them.They networked with captains of Industries, favourite celebrities and friends. Speaking at the event MC and WAZOBIA Radio host, Chiboi advised men to always support their wives with chores at home for peaceful co-existence. According to him, four male contestants including the celebrities are partaking in this cooking competition, because men could be better chefs.
Ratata On Air Personality radio sang his popular music titled “Our Lord’s prayer in Edo -Benin dialect”.The fans like Mama Osa, GMG had the fun of their lives dancing. DJ General Indo gave them good musics to electrified the mood, Solid AC lighten the mood the cracking jokes.
