Housing Ministry Seeks Kuwait Fund Partnership to Boost Affordable Housing and Urban Development

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is exploring a partnership with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) to advance affordable housing and sustainable urban growth in Nigeria.

In a statement signed by the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Badamasi Haiba, Minister Ahmed Dangiwa said the collaboration would focus on financing and technical support for critical infrastructure projects.

“Our partnership focus is affordable housing and promotion of sustainable urban development,” Dangiwa said during a recent meeting with a KFAED delegation. He noted that, under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, the Ministry is rolling out several strategic programmes requiring both financial and technical backing.

A key initiative is the establishment of building material manufacturing hubs across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. Each hub, occupying between 200 and 300 hectares, will be equipped with essential infrastructure such as roads, drainage systems, electricity, and water supply. The project aims to reduce the cost of building materials, boost housing affordability, and create significant job opportunities nationwide.

Dangiwa emphasised that the proposed partnership with KFAED would accelerate the delivery of these initiatives, ensuring that Nigeria’s urban growth is inclusive, sustainable, and economically beneficial.
