The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has stepped up its direct engagement with Nigerians through its maiden “CBN Fair” in Lagos, showcasing alternative payment channels as a driver of financial inclusion, economic growth, and sustainable development.
Themed “Driving Alternative Payment Channels as Tools for Financial Inclusion, Growth and Accelerated Economic Development,” the event was designed to deepen public understanding of the bank’s policies and reforms while fostering dialogue with critical stakeholders across the financial ecosystem.
Attendees represented a cross-section of Nigeria’s economy, including manufacturers, commercial and microfinance banks, fintech companies, merchant banks, students, traders, artisans, NYSC members, and community representatives. The forum provided insights into how the CBN’s latest initiatives could improve livelihoods, expand access to finance, and create new economic opportunities.
Acting Director of the Corporate Communications Department, Hakama Sidi Ali, said the Cardoso-led management is committed to championing technologies that empower individuals, boost productivity, and connect communities to wider economic prospects.
