Dangote Refinery Hikes Petrol Price to N1,175 per Litre Amid Surge in Global Crude

Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has dismissed reports of a fresh increase in petrol prices, confirming that its ex-depot price for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) remains unchanged at N1,275 per litre.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the company clarified that there has been no adjustment to its current pricing structure, despite ongoing volatility in global energy markets and rising operational costs across the petroleum value chain.

The refinery said the clarification was necessary amid circulating rumours suggesting an imminent hike in fuel prices.

According to the company, maintaining the current price level is part of its strategy to support stability in Nigeria’s domestic fuel market and shield the economy from external shocks.

“Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited wishes to clarify that the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) remains unchanged, as our ex-depot price continues to remain the same,” the statement read.

It added that its decision to hold prices steady reflects its commitment to cushioning consumers and businesses, including transport operators, manufacturers, and households, from inflationary pressures.

The refinery further stated that its pricing approach is designed to ensure steady product availability while contributing to broader energy market stability.

It noted that rather than transferring rising global and operational costs to consumers, it is absorbing them to help maintain economic balance in the downstream sector.

The development comes amid continued fluctuations in international crude oil prices, driven by supply uncertainties, geopolitical tensions, and shifting global demand patterns.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted fuel supply across Nigeria, stressing its role in supporting energy affordability at a critical time for the economy.
