FirstBank has announced plans to commemorate Children’s Day 2026 with a series of sponsored engagements across Nigeria aimed at educating, inspiring, and empowering children.
The bank said the initiatives, organised in partnership with the Nigerian Television Authority, Nigeria Future Leaders Festival, and Lexicon, reflect its commitment to nurturing future leaders and promoting sustainable community development.
Speaking on the initiative, the Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at FirstBank, Olayinka Ijabiyi, said the engagements align with the bank’s youth development and empowerment strategy.
“Children are the foundation of a sustainable and prosperous future. Our support for children on their special day is an intentional investment in nurturing creativity, building confidence, and empowering the next generation with opportunities they need to grow and thrive,” Ijabiyi said.
He added that the bank was pleased to collaborate with the Nigerian Television Authority, Nigeria Future Leaders Festival, and Lexicon to create meaningful experiences capable of inspiring children across the country.
According to the bank, the sponsorship aligns with its broader sustainability framework, which focuses on education, health, and welfare as major pillars of its impact strategy.
FirstBank stated that the initiative also supports its commitment to promoting financial literacy, encouraging a savings culture, and advancing financial inclusion among young people.
The bank explained that the engagements are designed to ensure children gain access to opportunities that support their personal growth and future development.
Activities lined up for the Children’s Day celebrations include sponsorship of the NTA Abuja Children’s Day programme and the Youth Edutainment Theatre Festival in Lagos. The bank will also support the Nigeria Future Leaders Festival.
Additional activities include the Lexicon Children’s Day Games, the NTA Channel 10 Lagos Children’s Day programme, and the NTA Yola Children’s Day Party.
According to the statement, the programmes are designed to promote creativity, confidence, inclusion, and learning among children from different backgrounds.
“We will continue to invest in initiatives that empower children, enrich families, and contribute to national development, ensuring every engagement creates value-driven experiences and inspires brighter futures,” the statement added.
