Nigeria’s electricity distribution companies (DisCos) generated N630.93 billion in revenue during the fourth quarter of 2025, reflecting improved electricity supply and increased collections, according to the latest report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The Q4 2025 Nigeria Electricity Report, released by the NBS, showed that revenue collection rose from N570.26 billion recorded in the third quarter of 2025, representing a quarter-on-quarter increase.
On a year-on-year basis, the report indicated that DisCos’ revenue grew by 23.75 per cent, compared to N509.84 billion generated in the corresponding period of 2024.
The report also revealed that the total number of electricity customers increased to 12.16 million in the fourth quarter of 2025, up from 12.03 million in the previous quarter, representing a 1.11 per cent quarter-on-quarter growth.
However, on a year-on-year basis, the number of customers declined by 8.52 per cent from 13.30 million recorded in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Metering also improved during the review period, with the number of metered customers rising to 6.97 million in Q4 2025 from 6.66 million in Q3 2025, representing a 4.58 per cent increase.
Compared with the same period in 2024, metered customers increased by 12.18 per cent, up from 6.21 million.
The NBS report further showed that the number of estimated customers declined to 5.20 million during the quarter, compared with 5.37 million in the preceding quarter, representing a 3.20 per cent decrease.
On a year-on-year basis, estimated billing customers fell significantly by 26.67 per cent, from 7.09 million recorded in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The report also highlighted improvements in electricity supply across the country.
According to the NBS, electricity supplied by the distribution companies reached 6,627.56 gigawatt-hours (GWh) in Q4 2025, compared with 6,158.52 GWh supplied in the previous quarter, representing a 7.62 per cent increase.
Year-on-year, electricity supply rose by 6.76 per cent from 6,207.85 GWh recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.
The latest figures suggest continued improvements in electricity distribution, metering and revenue generation within Nigeria’s power sector, despite persistent challenges facing the industry.
