Remita Unveils New App Combining Multiple Bank Accounts, Payments and Money Management

Nigerian financial technology company Remita has unveiled a new consumer application designed to bring multiple bank accounts, everyday payments and personal money management into a single platform.

The company introduced the product at Nigeria Fintech Week 2026, expanding its offering beyond the payment infrastructure for which Remita has become widely known.

The platform is designed to provide users with a consolidated view of their financial activities rather than requiring them to move repeatedly between different banking and payment applications.

The move comes as competition intensifies across Nigeria’s fintech market, where banks, mobile-money operators and technology companies are increasingly competing for the same digital consumer.

Remita Moves Closer to Everyday Consumer

Remita has spent more than two decades developing digital-payment infrastructure and services.

The new application represents an attempt to extend that experience further into everyday personal financial management.

Multi-banking functionality is particularly significant in Nigeria, where individuals and businesses frequently maintain accounts with several financial institutions.

Instead of viewing each account independently through separate applications, financial aggregation can provide customers with a broader picture of their money.

The platform also combines that functionality with everyday payment services.

Battle for Digital Wallet Intensifies

Nigeria has become one of Africa’s most competitive digital-payments markets.

Traditional banks are investing heavily in mobile applications, while fintech companies and mobile-money providers are competing around transfers, bill payments, merchant transactions and other financial services.

That competition is increasingly shifting from simply processing transactions towards becoming the primary financial interface used by customers.

The more services a platform can combine in one application, the greater its potential to retain customers within its ecosystem.

Remita’s new product therefore places the company more directly into the battle for consumer financial engagement.

Convenience Meets Security Challenge

Bringing several financial services into one application can improve convenience, but it also makes cybersecurity and data protection increasingly important.

Financial platforms hold sensitive information and can become attractive targets for fraudsters.

As Nigerian consumers conduct more financial activities digitally, fintech companies will need to balance convenience with authentication, fraud detection and data protection.

For Remita, the new app represents another stage in its transition from primarily payment infrastructure towards a broader consumer-finance ecosystem.
