Fidelity Bank Plc and Foremost Radiology have partnered to promote breast cancer awareness and encourage women to seek timely medical attention when they notice unusual changes in their breasts.
The initiative is being implemented through HerFidelity, the bank’s women-focused proposition, as part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The campaign seeks to encourage women to recognise possible warning signs, obtain professional medical advice and understand the importance of early assessment and appropriate treatment.
Organisers say the effort is intended to move breast cancer awareness beyond general messaging by promoting practical information, informed conversations and timely action.
Recognising possible warning signs
Breast cancer may present through a lump or thickening in the breast, changes in breast size or shape, changes to the skin or nipple, or unusual nipple discharge.
Some changes may occur without pain. However, these symptoms do not necessarily mean that a person has cancer.
Health professionals advise that unusual changes should be assessed by a qualified healthcare provider. Medical evaluation can help determine whether further tests or treatment are needed.
The campaign’s message is summarised in three words: “Know, Check, Act.”
It encourages women to understand what is normal for their bodies, pay attention to changes and seek professional advice when something unusual occurs.
The initiative also aims to reduce fear and misinformation by making reliable information about breast health more accessible.
Webinar to address awareness and imaging
A key activity is a webinar titled Beyond the Lump: The Role of Awareness and Imaging in Early Breast Cancer Detection.
The session is scheduled for Friday, October 16, 2026, at 10 a.m. West African Time. It will feature Dr Alabi, identified by the organisers as a consultant radiation and clinical oncologist.
The webinar is expected to discuss breast cancer, potential warning signs, medical imaging and the importance of timely professional evaluation.
Participants will also have an opportunity to ask questions and obtain information to support informed decisions about their health.
Women interested in participating can register through the link provided by the organisers: https://bit.ly/Herfidelity-BC.
Lagos market outreach planned
The partnership is also expected to extend to a breast-health screening and awareness outreach at Oyingbo Market in Lagos on October 25.
The programme is intended to take health information closer to women in a busy commercial community, including those who may find it difficult to access health education through conventional channels.
The planned outreach reflects the campaign’s approach of reaching women where they work and conduct business, while encouraging them to seek qualified medical attention when necessary.
Details of the screening arrangements and eligibility should be confirmed with the organisers before attendance.
Connecting women’s health with empowerment
HerFidelity was established to support women through access to finance, business education, capacity building, entrepreneurship support and health and wellness programmes.
The bank’s approach recognises that women’s economic participation is influenced by factors beyond access to capital, including knowledge, wellbeing and opportunities to build sustainable businesses.
Through its collaboration with Foremost Radiology, the bank is extending that approach to breast-health awareness.
The initiative highlights the role businesses can play in supporting public-health education through partnerships with relevant healthcare providers.
While awareness campaigns cannot replace clinical diagnosis or treatment, accessible information and timely medical assessment can help women make better-informed decisions about their health.
