Champion Breweries Assures Shareholders of Sustained Growth Amid Economic Challenges

Champion Breweries Plc has reported revenue of ₦35.73 billion for the first half of 2026, driven by improved operating performance and the acquisition of an 80 per cent equity stake in EnjoyBev B.V.

The brewer disclosed this in its unaudited financial results for the six months ended June 30, 2026, noting that higher finance costs associated with the acquisition affected overall profitability.

The company posted an operating profit of ₦6.17 billion, while profit after tax attributable to the Group stood at ₦2.65 billion during the period.

For the second quarter alone, Champion Breweries generated ₦21.37 billion in revenue and recorded a profit after tax of ₦1.76 billion.

According to the company, revenue growth reflected sustained demand across its beverage portfolio and contributions from its expanded operations following the acquisition completed during the first quarter of the year.

Despite continued investment in route-to-market expansion, brand development, distribution capabilities and other strategic initiatives, the company maintained a resilient operating profit.

Champion Breweries, however, said profitability came under pressure due to increased finance costs arising from acquisition funding and prevailing interest rates.

During the reporting period, the company completed the acquisition of an 80 per cent equity interest in EnjoyBev B.V., resulting in the preparation of its first consolidated Group financial statements in line with International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) 10.

The brewer said the acquisition expands its operations beyond traditional brewing into complementary beverage categories and additional regional markets.

Champion Breweries also completed a capital-raising programme during the period, increasing shareholders’ equity to ₦69.08 billion.

The company added that its free float rose to 25.72 per cent as of June 30, 2026, ensuring continued compliance with the Nigerian Exchange’s listing requirements.

Commenting on the results, Acting Managing Director, Rasheed Adebiyi, described the acquisition as a major milestone in the company’s growth journey.

He said the first half of 2026 represented a defining period for Champion Breweries, with the company delivering strong operating performance while successfully transforming into a broader beverage group.

Adebiyi noted that although higher finance costs linked to the company’s strategic investment programme affected profitability, the underlying business remained strong.

He added that disciplined commercial execution, continued investment in brands and distribution capabilities, as well as improving operational efficiency, would support future growth.

According to him, the company remains committed to creating long-term value for shareholders, strengthening its market position and leveraging opportunities created by its expanded business platform.

Champion Breweries said the combination of the EnjoyBev acquisition, a stronger capital base and resilient operating performance has positioned the company for sustained growth and future expansion.
