The Federal Government has commenced the validation of a Harmonised Fertilizer Manual as part of its strategy to increase crop productivity, enhance farmers’ earnings, and strengthen national food and nutrition security.
Abana Abba, Director of Farm Inputs Support Services, highlighted the initiative in a signed statement on Monday, describing the manual as a key tool for addressing persistent challenges in fertilizer application and improving agricultural output.
“It is my pleasure to welcome you to this important workshop convened to validate the Harmonised Fertiliser Manual, a critical tool for enhancing crop productivity, improving farmers’ profitability, promoting sustainable economic growth, and ultimately strengthening national food security,” Abba said.
He noted that low soil fertility continues to be a major constraint for agriculture in Nigeria. Proper fertilizer use, he emphasized, is essential for replenishing soil nutrients, increasing yields, and supporting the country’s farming communities.
The validation of the manual marks a significant step in the government’s ongoing efforts to modernize agricultural practices, ensure sustainable crop production, and address food security challenges nationwide.
