Fidelity Bank Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability with a tree planting and beach clean-up exercise at Elegushi Beach, Lekki, Lagos, as part of its efforts to promote climate action and environmental preservation.
The initiative was carried out in partnership with Greenfingers Wildlife Initiative under the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) platform, the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme (FHHP).
The project was funded and implemented by newly inducted employees of the bank, known as the Vault Class, who selected the exercise as their community impact initiative, with additional financial support from Fidelity Bank.
Speaking at the event, the Divisional Head, Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank Plc, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, said the initiative reflects the bank’s long-standing commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.
He noted that environmental preservation remains a core pillar of Fidelity Bank’s CSR agenda, stressing that the institution views protecting the environment as a shared responsibility.
According to him, the tree planting exercise is part of the bank’s broader climate action and resilience strategy, rather than a one-off intervention.
Beyond tree planting, Fidelity Bank staff and volunteers also carried out a comprehensive clean-up of Elegushi Beach, removing waste from the shoreline and nearby marine areas to improve environmental and aquatic health.
Nwagboh added that the bank continues to support environmental conservation initiatives across Nigeria and maintains a long-standing partnership with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF).
Also speaking at the event, the Founder of Greenfingers Wildlife Initiative, Mr. Chinedu Mogbo, commended Fidelity Bank for its proactive approach to environmental sustainability, describing the collaboration as a shared commitment to creating cleaner and safer environments for humans and wildlife.
He noted that tree planting not only enhances environmental safety but also beautifies public spaces and helps restore ecological balance.
The exercise marks another milestone in Fidelity Bank’s environmental CSR efforts, which are focused on promoting sustainable living, combating climate change, protecting biodiversity, and conserving aquatic ecosystems.
Fidelity Bank Plc is one of Nigeria’s leading commercial banks, serving over 9.1 million customers through its digital banking platforms, 255 business offices nationwide, and its United Kingdom subsidiary, FidBank UK Limited.
