Julius Berger Earns Praise for Strategic Media Engagement, Transparency

Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has been commended for its consistent record of positive media coverage, a feat attributed to the company’s professionalism and deliberate, strategic engagement with journalists across the country.

The commendation was given by the President of the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE) and Editor of Vanguard, Eze Anaba, during Julius Berger’s annual dinner with senior media executives held over the weekend at Sky Restaurant, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Anaba described the company’s approach to media relations as exemplary, noting that its open and robust engagement model has positioned it as a benchmark in corporate communication.

“Your robust and strategic interactions with the press is a professional beauty to align with. We are always ready to partner with your company,” Anaba said, adding that Julius Berger remains a model for transparency and responsible corporate communication in Nigeria.

Representing the Managing Director of Julius Berger, the Director of Administration, Alhaji Dr Abdulaziz Isa Kaita, expressed appreciation to the media for their continuous support throughout the year.

“In all, you have demonstrated that we are upping our partnership for the progress of the larger Nigerian community and our company,” Kaita said.

He also called for deeper collaboration between the company and the media as Julius Berger continues to drive innovation, engineering excellence, and capacity development in Nigeria.

The 2025 Julius Berger Nigeria Plc Annual Media Parley later continued in Abuja, with a keynote address delivered by the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ali M. Ali, titled Public Relations and the Media: The Missing Link.

Ali stressed the importance of sustained relationships between public relations professionals and journalists, built on trust, mutual respect, and value creation.

He explained the distinction between journalism and public relations, noting that while journalists are guided by truth and public interest, PR professionals manage perception and reputation.

Using Julius Berger as a practical example, Ali said:

“Established trust encourages journalists to actively seek the company’s perspective during controversies.”

He added that compelling story framing remains the strongest bridge between PR teams and the media.

Dr Kaita also reaffirmed Julius Berger’s contributions to national development, referencing landmark projects such as the Eko Bridge, Third Mainland Bridge, and the Abuja–Kano Expressway.

He further highlighted the company’s collaboration with Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) on cold recycling technology, an innovation that has earned international recognition from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Editors and senior journalists from leading media organisations including ThisDay, BusinessDay, The Punch, Vanguard, The Guardian, Daily Trust, and Nairametrics attended the Lagos and Abuja events, reinforcing the strength of the long-standing partnership between Julius Berger and Nigeria’s media community.
