MTN Nigeria has launched Y’ello Y’Fi, an enterprise connectivity and analytics solution designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises improve customer engagement and manage their internet networks more effectively.
The service, announced on October 21, 2026, represents a move by the telecommunications operator to extend its business offering beyond internet access by combining connectivity with tools that can help merchants understand customer behaviour and promote their products.
Businesses gain access to customer insights
According to details reported about the launch, Y’ello Y’Fi allows businesses to customise Wi-Fi login pages, collect customer information, manage connected devices and run promotional campaigns through branded digital experiences.
Its analytics functions are designed to provide information about network usage and customer preferences, potentially helping businesses refine their marketing and customer-retention strategies.
The platform also includes network-management features that allow businesses to control bandwidth, manage users and separate staff access from guest connectivity. These functions could be useful for restaurants, retail outlets, hotels, offices and other businesses that depend on reliable customer-facing internet services.
The product operates with MTN’s compatible 5G Tozed X25 and X100 broadband routers. Existing customers can add the analytics service to eligible plans, while new customers can subscribe to packages that include compatible equipment and data services.
Competition moves beyond data prices
The launch reflects a broader shift in the telecommunications industry, where operators are increasingly looking for additional revenue from enterprise services, cloud-based tools, digital platforms and business connectivity.
For smaller businesses, the commercial value of such services will depend on their affordability, reliability, ease of use and ability to convert customer insights into higher sales.
The data-collection features also make privacy and responsible handling of customer information important considerations for businesses deploying the platform.
MTN’s move could intensify competition among telecom operators and technology providers seeking to serve Nigerian SMEs with integrated digital solutions rather than connectivity alone.
