The Federal Government of Nigeria and Qatar Charity have signed a comprehensive cooperation framework to implement humanitarian programmes and development initiatives tailored to Nigeria’s local needs.
The agreement was signed in Doha, Qatar, by Senator Abubakar Bagudu, Nigeria’s Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, and Mr. Nawaf Abdullah Al-Hammadi, Chief Global Operations Officer of Qatar Charity. The signing was confirmed in a statement posted on the Ministry’s official X handle.
The newly established framework provides a legal foundation for Qatar Charity’s continued operations as an international organisation in Nigeria. It also guarantees access to essential facilities needed to support the charity’s office and the implementation of various projects.
Under the agreement, both parties will work collaboratively across key sectors, including:
- Health and Education
- Information Technology and Water Access
- Institutional Capacity Building
- Empowerment of Local Social Networks and Charitable Organisations
The partnership aims to enhance service delivery and ensure that Qatar Charity’s development and humanitarian efforts are effectively aligned with the government’s strategic priorities.
Officials noted that the agreement reflects a growing emphasis on international cooperation to address local development challenges and promote community resilience in underserved regions across Nigeria.
