The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), has set Friday, June 12, 2026, as the deadline for the submission of technical and commercial bids by prequalified applicants in the ongoing 2025 Licensing Round.
The commission announced the deadline in a notice published on its official X account on Tuesday, urging all qualified bidders to adhere strictly to the timelines outlined in the licensing guidelines.
“The NUPRC hereby notifies the general public that submission of Technical and Commercial Bids by Prequalified Applicants for the 2025 Licensing Round closes on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 16:30 hours (WAT) in line with the 2025 Licensing Round Guidelines,” the statement read.
The regulator advised interested stakeholders to obtain further information through the official licensing round portal, noting that compliance with the deadline is mandatory for participation in the process.
The announcement marks a significant transition into a critical stage of the licensing round, as investors compete for upstream oil and gas assets in Nigeria amid ongoing government efforts to boost production and attract foreign and local investment.
The 2025 Licensing Round follows a two-stage process involving qualification and bidding, with only prequalified firms eligible to submit final technical and commercial proposals within the stipulated timeframe.
Conducted under the framework of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), the exercise is part of the government’s broader strategy to unlock dormant hydrocarbon assets, expand exploration activities, and strengthen Nigeria’s crude oil reserves base.
Authorities say the initiative is designed to improve sector transparency, enhance competitiveness, and support long-term energy security through increased upstream investment.
