SEC Launches Technology Adoption Assessment for Capital Market Operators
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has officially launched a technology adoption assessment for registered Capital Market Operators (CMOs).
The announcement was made on the SEC’s website on Tuesday, signaling the commission’s efforts to evaluate how advanced technologies are being integrated into the operations of registered CMOs.
According to the SEC notice, the purpose of the survey is to assess the level of technology adoption in the capital market sector. “All registered CMOs are required to access and complete the survey by logging in to the e-portal with their current access credentials,” the SEC said.
The survey will remain open for two weeks, from May 5 to May 20, 2025.
Dr. Emomotimi Agama, the Director General of the SEC, encouraged capital market operators to embrace technological innovations while being mindful of the associated risks.
He emphasized that the SEC is closely monitoring the rapid evolution of financial products and services driven by technology, committing to adjust its regulations accordingly to ensure a safe and efficient market.
